Challenge
School admins frequently upload batches of images to their homepage sliders and rarely write meaningul alt text. Many resorted to entering a single (".") period just to bypass the required field.
This created:
Significant accessibility non-compliance.
Inaccurate or empty alt text acrtoss thousands of sites.
Time-intensive process that users were not motivated to complete.
Scope
I designed the complete workflow and UI for generating, editing, and approving alt text across multi-image slideshows.
Created an AI alt text modal with both manual entry and AI-generated options.
Designed the AI writing state with loading feedback, disabled actions, and clear system status.
Designed states for manual override, needs review, and completed alt text.
Design user permissions and access controls for the workflow.
Goal
Improve accessibility compliance across the platform by creating a fast, intuitive, alt-text workflow.
